After School Tutoring Program
AACCESS-Ohio provides the community with assistance in learning Monday-Thursday after school until 6:00 pm.
Volunteer tutors administer the children with the extra attention needed in all areas of education.
Many of the children that seek assistance in their homework come from bilingual homes creating a language barrier with
the parent and child.
Therefore, AACCESS-Ohio tries to break down these barriers in assisting the children with the various fields of studies.
At AACCESS-Ohio, children are provided with the essential tools to better equip them in all aspects of life.
AACCESS-Ohio also aids students that are not at the level of expectance for their grade level. In particular, one avid
student in the program is Jamilla Hassan. Jamilla enrolled in the after school tutoring program as a third grader reading
at a second grade level. With one-on-one lessons, intense tutoring and patience from the volunteers, Jamilla began to
show significant improvements in her reading skills. Now Jamilla is reading at the grade level she is currently enrolled in.
